Authenticity and Appraisal
Avoid the fake.
There are many fake items in the secondhand market.
Protection is necessary, especially for high value items.
Lunarcat does not perform appraisals.
However, appraisals are still available for items bought from Mercari/Yahoo Auctions/Rakuma.
How to Use the Appraisal Feature
Leave a comment on the cart to request an appraisal.
Appraisal will be done if applicable. Fees will be charged afterwards.
*Free appraisals will be automatically opted in unless you ask to opt out.
How Appraisal Works
Appraisal is available when both conditions are met:
- The item is in an eligible category on the platform.
- The seller turns on the appraisal option for the listing.
After purchase, the item is shipped to the appraisal center.
The item is appraised.
Pass: No separate notification will be sent for a passed appraisal.
Fail: The item cost and associated fees will be refunded.
Lunarcat will contact you when an appraisal fails.
Mercari
Appraisals are handled by SNKRDUNK, which reports an accuracy rate of 99.97%.
*Waived for sneakers and fashion items over ¥100,000, and for trading cards over ¥150,000.
